Muslim cleric who hid Christians during attacks
Religious freedom must be the core value, which gaursntees the best life on this earth. I think this the reason that the U.S. Department of State has presented an annual award for courageous acts in upholding religious hormone and freedom anywhere in the world.
This year one of the five people who are honored with this award, is Imam Abubajar Abdullah, the Muslim clergy who save the lives of several christians by risking his own life. If Imam Abubajar Abdullah has not risked his life, the innocent christians would have been killed.
Actually all this enmity between christian and Muslims started in 2013. In Barkin Ladi area of Plateau State in central Nigeria, is predominantly Christian, and nomadic herders, who are mostly Muslim, are fighting since 2013.
It became worst
But, in June of last year, in June last year, herdsmen launched deadly coordinated attacks in 10 villages that killed hundreds of ethnic Berom farmers. This time, the 83-year-old Imam showed “true courage, selflessness, humanity and brotherly love” as he protected human lives, despite religious differences. He proved that humanity is above religion and race.
The Imam of the mosque in the area, Abdullahi was finishing midday prayers, when he and his congregation heard gunshots and went outside to see members of the town’s Christian community fleeing. The Imam gave shelter to hide to 262 of them into the mosque and into his personal home next door.
After hiding them, the Imam went outside to confront the gunmen. When the attackers asked Imam about their chistians, the cleric “refused to give them up.” He did not allow them to enter the mosque and his house even he was ready to sacrifice his life for christians.
Let me tell you that more than 80 people were killed in Nghar village that day, but human action of Imam Abdullahi saved the lives of hundreds more.
Imam is living in Naghar for about 60 years and leading the Muslim community in a mosque that was built on land provided by the Christian community. Iman Abdullahi proved that humanity comes first and proved that interfaith understanding and peace goes together.
FAISALABAD:Khushpur: symbol of interfaith harmony
Christians, Muslims living peacefully in the Khuspur for past 117 years and it is really symbol of religious harmony. It is about 141 years old village and is a unique example of love and peace in a country like Pakistan. This village was founded by Father Felix about 141 years ago. Later in 1903 Father Berna Dean established a church in the village. This is who helped few Muslims to settle in the village and since then christian and Muslims are living together
The village population is more than 7000 people of which christian are in majority. This village is known as the Time of Pakistan.
Both the communities celebrate their respective festivals together which depicts the rare display of interfaith harmony in the country where tolerance
can not be seen. Let me mentioned here that village mosque was built by christians.
